Correct Dosage of Mastic Gum
To get the most from mastic gum, the correct daily dose and duration of use are crucial. Supplements contain pure mastic in varying proportions, so always consider the amount of mastic itself, without additives. When comparing prices, compare the pure-mastic content: look at how many grams of mastic are in the pack (and the cost per gram of mastic after deducting other ingredients), not just the price of the pack. After all, you are mainly buying the mastic — not the other ingredients.
Rules for using mastic
To get the most from mastic, just follow a few simple rules:
- Only use original mastic gum from a certified source. Non-original Chios mastic has no practical value. If unsure, see how to recognise original mastic.
- Follow the daily dose of pure mastic and use it for long enough.
- Subtract any additives and work out the dose by the content of pure mastic, not the total weight.
- Remember you take mastic supplements for the mastic itself — “boosting” with other substances is rather counterproductive, as it reduces the mastic content.
- You likely also chose mastic because it is a pure, natural substance — so check that any other ingredients are of natural, plant origin.
- You can also combine forms — for example a powder with inulin in the morning and a capsule in the evening. The total pure-mastic content is what matters.
- Mastic gum is a food supplement and is not intended to replace prescribed medical treatment. Always consult your doctor before starting a new supplement, and do not stop prescribed medication without your doctor’s approval.
